Our program is top rated and has provided many truly amazing experiences and success stories for students from all over the world. There are plenty of reasons why we hope that you will choose Costa Rican Language Academy (CRLA) but in case you need a little convincing, here’s a brief summary of some of the most valuable things that you can expect from our programs.

Why Costa Rica?

Costa Rica is considered one of the most ecologically and culturally rich countries on Earth as it is made up of more than 800 miles of coastline and numerous national parks and conservation sites.  Though it is a relatively small country, about the size of Lake Michigan, its natural biodiversity is one of the most extraordinary on the planet.

The motto of this colorful country is “pura vida” or “the pure life” and it is a motto which Costa Ricans live by as they enjoy life and its beauty to the fullest.  In fact, the people of Costa Rica happen to have one of the longest life spans in the world and the country itself is safe and clean and life is simple. Costa Ricans are very friendly and humble and are a literate and quite progressive people. They are also committed to preserving the natural wonders that surround them.

This small country is home to many different people and is also the home for CRLA, the Costa Rican Language Academy, where Spanish immersion programs are just the beginning for students seeking an authentic and complete language and learning experience.

Program Features

CRLA is owned and operated by Costa Ricans and the Spanish school has been providing its learning opportunities for the last 25 years. The Spanish language programs include the intensive study of the Spanish language and combines this with other classes like cooking and dance to give a truly well rounded cultural experience. Besides the Spanish lessons, students also stay at a host family home while in the program. The courses begin every Monday which means that every student can design their own course schedule. After completion of a Spanish language course, students have the option to stay on in Costa Rica and participate in a volunteer project to perhaps make a profound difference in the lives of those who have special needs or to contribute some time and effort towards one of the many natural conservation projects in the country.

These are just some of the reasons why CRLA has had such a phenomenal success rate as a Spanish school and why the students who enroll in this program have so many positive things to say about their study abroad experience. We encourage anyone who has a desire to learn the Spanish language and to broaden their knowledge of the world by experiencing an exciting new culture, to consider enrolling in an immersion program at the Costa Rican Language Academy.
